    Versace Women’s and Men’s RTW Spring 2021

    Versace Women’s and Men’s RTW Spring 2021

Not many runway shows are pulse-pounding. Versace’s are unfailingly so with their blaring music, leggy supermodels, fierce fashions and famous faces in the crowd — or even walking the show. Hello, remember J.Lo in that dress!

“We will have to do without a front row of VIPs. Something’s gotta give, right?” Donatella Versace said in an e-mail interview ahead of a livestream of her coed spring show, with Versace employees, all of whom tested negative for COVID-19, making up the sparse audience.

Versace went for an undersea theme out of a yearning for nature, escape and fantasy. “Right after the lockdown was lifted, we all saw that the world was actually recovering very fast by the lack of human presence,” she said. “The air was cleaner, the sky seemed of a deeper blue. I want it to stay like this.”

The collection was solid and very on-brand in its use of vivid Miami colors, bold prints and unabashed sexiness. Versace paired boxy pinstriped jackets with HotPants, poured models thin and curvy into tube skirts — and she never met a scuba top that went past the ribcage.

While some looks teetered into camp territory — the bedazzled clam-shell bra, for example — Versace clearly had fun with the theme, scattering rows of printed shells on an Eighties shell suit (LOL!) and adding squid-like ruffles to the sleeves and hems of narrow plissé dresses, and bigger, undulating flounces to miniskirts and two-tier ball skirts.

COLLINA STRADA SPRING 2021 READY TO WEAR

COLLINA STRADA Spring 2021 Ready-to -Wear

How did Hillary Taymour come to name her brand Collina Strada? Collina is Italian for “hill,” and it’s what her Italian friends call her, and Strada translates to “road.” She says she likes the way the two words sound together, but there’s more meaning to derive from the moniker. It could mean walking up the side of a hill, or perhaps facing an uphill battle, which in Taymour’s case is the fight against climate change. Sustainability is the focal-point of her brand and while she is certainly doing her part, she is honest and straightforward about how far we have to go.\

Taymour’s calls to action are simple: shop locally, grow your own food, don’t use plastic, and DIY your clothes, even if they’re based on her designs. She’s been transparent about the fact that while the majority of her collections are upcycled; she isn’t 100% sustainable yet (though she’s pretty damn close). Most importantly, she doesn’t speak about the climate crisis through any sort of doom and gloom narrative. Her approach, in terms of both design and activism, is one of hope and optimism.

There are flower models too, illustrated by the artist Sean-Kierre Lyons. Set to a bouncy soundtrack by Angel Emoji, the 11-minute film features the diverse cast of humans running and jumping at several different farms upstate, as well as at the seaside. Cows and frogs swirl in and out of the frames, and the flower characters dance. It’s trippy and weird and wildly captivating.

The Daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost

Iris Law Stars In Fendi’s New Campaign

Iris Law is practically Hollywood royalty. The daughter of Jude Law and Sadie Frost, recently, Iris has been making a name for her herself in the modeling industry in high-profile campaigns for brands like Miu Miu and Burberry. Now, she's been tapped as the new face of Fendi's iconic "Peekaboo" bag. To celebrate, the 19-year-old is sharing her style secrets in the gorgeous new campaign.
“Since I was little, I’ve always loved fashion, so it came quite naturally for me to get closer to the fashion world," Iris told Fendi of her sartorial side. "I think [of] the Peekaboo bag as someone who loves having a personal and versatile sense of style."
In the pics, Iris hangs out in a cozy room with floral wallpaper, cuddling up to a series of Peekaboo bags featuring a leather lattice pattern in neutral shades. She is also seen wearing glamorous Fendi pieces, including a sequined check sweater and deconstructed jacket, to match. Iris sports a dramatic burgundy shadow look (one she's worn before) with a glossy lip and sleek, shiny hair in most of the images, as well as a pair of giant clear earrings in the classic Fendi "F" shape.
