Kristen Stewart Was An Audience of One at Chanel’s Metiers d’Art Show

Kristen Stewart was an audience of one at Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Show

We’re used to celebrities getting the best seat in the house, but

Chanel’s most recent fashion show took A-list benefits to a new level of extravagance. At the fashion house’s latest Métiers d’Art Show in France, the team took physical distancing guidelines very seriously and invited only one audience member – long-time Chanel lover Kristen Stewart.
According to Nylon, Chanel’s latest runway event required 300 employees to create and only an audience of one to witness it in person. The show took place at Château de Chenonceau in France, which was chosen for its historical impact on the fashion house. In a statement released by Chanel creative director Virginie Viard, she called Château de Chenonceau an “obvious choice” because of its former inhabitants, including Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de’ Medici, two women who inspired Coco Chanel to create the brand’s iconic looks. Both women were known for their black-and-white ensembles, a trademark for Chanel and one that was continued with the unveiling of the latest collection.

    Viard
described the latest collection as pulling from different
moments in time. “I like everything to be mixed up, all the
different eras, between the Renaissance and romanticism,
between rock and something very girly, it is all very Chanel.”

Stewart spoke to WWD about the history of the Château and

the famous women who lived there. “I was just telling

Virginie, it felt like the story was folding in on itself,” said

Stewart via Nylon. “The women who lived here before were

really into art, and promoted a lot of creativity, and loved to be

inspired and inspire other people to come create, and I was

imagining who our characters were while watching the show.

I’m always proud of her, but it felt very personal this time.”

Stewart first became associated with Chanel when she was

chosen as the face of the company’s Western-inspired line in

2013. The American actor will once again be heading a Chanel

campaign as the face of the collection that launched during the

December 3 show. Stewart’s new ads showcasing the

collection will be filmed by Juergen Teller, who has worked

with just about every other major fashion house, including

Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood,

Céline, Louis Vuitton and Valentino. Teller filmed this week’s

show and has released footage taken from around the

    stunning Château.

Stewart dressed for the occasion in all black and a layered

string of pearls, a must have for any Chanel outfit. Sitting on

one side of the extended hallway, Stewart had a front row view

of the Fall 2021 line, which included several button-up coats

and wide legged pants that her Happiest Season character

    Abby would have loved

    Natacha Ramsay-Levi Exits Chloe

                              Natacha Ramsay-Levi Exits Chloé

After almost four years and previous stints at Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton as a pupil under Nicolas Ghesquière, French designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi has stepped down as creative director of Chloé. In a brief statement released via Instagram Ramsay-Levi spoke on her sudden departure, “Over the last months of health, social and economic turmoil, I have given thoughts to the changes I want to see in our industry and how to better align them with my own creative, intellectual and emotional values. It is this reflection that makes me consider my future differently and desire to pursue new opportunities.” Ramsay-Levi’s successor has yet to be named but WWD reports Gabriela Hearst, Ilaria Icardi, design director at Victoria Beckham, and Gabrielle Greiss, who has designed for Chloé and Sonia Rykiel are being floated around as possible replacements.

An impeccably stylish single mother of one son and a stepdaughter from her relationship with Olivier Zahm, the photographer and founder of Purple magazine, whom New York magazine once called “fashion’s most libidinal editor”), Ms. Ramsay-Levi was born and raised in Paris.

She initially dreamed of being a historian, and has an edgier profile than her predecessor, Clare Waight Keller — or, indeed, many of the other designers who came before: Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo and Hannah McGibbon.

Italian dreaming – Highlights from Milan Fashion Week SS 21

The week that was. From the pure joyous fantasy, the utmost luxurious loungewear, iconic sensual film inspirations and the most hyped collaboration show of the season. We round up the best of Milan Fashion Week SS 21. Italy, we missed you.

    Prada

The most anticipated show of the season. Mother Miuccia and now co-creative director Raf Simons new partnership is an industry delight. For SS 2, exploring the notion of uniform was key.z Clothing is pared-back, refined and focused. Re-nylon clutch coats, shell tops, satin shift dresses, straight pants and fleece suiting. You can watch Miuccia and Raf’s post show conversation here.

    Marni

Francesco Risso created a Marnifesto for SS 21. Looks were sent to friends and family all over the world to model and live stream in a digital showcase. From LA, Philadelphia Detroit, New York, London, Milan, Paris, Dakar, Shanghai and Tokyo – it was a celebration of unity and diversity; we are all in this together. Archival pieces were deconstructed and recreated in new ways, presented in IRL everyday scenarios. The Marni connection.

    Valentino

Forever the romantic. Pierpaolo Piccioli said it with flowers for SS 21. Signature ethereal evening gowns, caftans, cape dresses, short suits, oversized shirting, crochet, lace, sheer masculine blouses and touches of sparkle. Fluid, free, simplified and forever dreamy. The radiant beautyof Romy Schneider in La Piscine, 1969 was a secondary visually seductive reference. Magnetic and iconic.
