Kristen Stewart Was An Audience of One at Chanel’s Metiers d’Art Show

Kristen Stewart was an audience of one at Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Show

We’re used to celebrities getting the best seat in the house, but

Chanel’s most recent fashion show took A-list benefits to a new level of extravagance. At the fashion house’s latest Métiers d’Art Show in France, the team took physical distancing guidelines very seriously and invited only one audience member – long-time Chanel lover Kristen Stewart.
According to Nylon, Chanel’s latest runway event required 300 employees to create and only an audience of one to witness it in person. The show took place at Château de Chenonceau in France, which was chosen for its historical impact on the fashion house. In a statement released by Chanel creative director Virginie Viard, she called Château de Chenonceau an “obvious choice” because of its former inhabitants, including Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de’ Medici, two women who inspired Coco Chanel to create the brand’s iconic looks. Both women were known for their black-and-white ensembles, a trademark for Chanel and one that was continued with the unveiling of the latest collection.

Viard
described the latest collection as pulling from different
moments in time. “I like everything to be mixed up, all the
different eras, between the Renaissance and romanticism,
between rock and something very girly, it is all very Chanel.”

Stewart spoke to WWD about the history of the Château and

the famous women who lived there. “I was just telling

Virginie, it felt like the story was folding in on itself,” said

Stewart via Nylon. “The women who lived here before were

really into art, and promoted a lot of creativity, and loved to be

inspired and inspire other people to come create, and I was

imagining who our characters were while watching the show.

I’m always proud of her, but it felt very personal this time.”

Stewart first became associated with Chanel when she was

chosen as the face of the company’s Western-inspired line in

2013. The American actor will once again be heading a Chanel

campaign as the face of the collection that launched during the

December 3 show. Stewart’s new ads showcasing the

collection will be filmed by Juergen Teller, who has worked

with just about every other major fashion house, including

Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood,

Céline, Louis Vuitton and Valentino. Teller filmed this week’s

show and has released footage taken from around the

stunning Château.

Stewart dressed for the occasion in all black and a layered

string of pearls, a must have for any Chanel outfit. Sitting on

one side of the extended hallway, Stewart had a front row view

of the Fall 2021 line, which included several button-up coats

and wide legged pants that her Happiest Season character

Abby would have loved

.
